FORGET THE FIELD TRIP
Standards: NGSS.SCIENCE MS-LS1-3
“Come with me,” your friend pleads. “I left my EpiPen at home and Mr. Cobb said I have to get my spare one from the nurse or I can’t go on the field trip!” The two of you hustle to the nurse’s office and find her pacing the small room. “Ummm, Nurse Lewis,” your friend gently tries to get her attention as she continues pacing. Startled she looks to you, “Oh my! I am so sorry, I have been deep in study mode for this continuing ed test I have to take at the health department,” she groans. “I’m sorry to interrupt your studying,” you say, “but my friend here needs to get his spare EpiPen for today’s field trip.” “That could be a problem,” she whispers, “I changed the lock to the medicine cabinet yesterday and with all of this studying for the test, I can’t remember the combination. I know I wrote it down somewhere, but my mind is as cluttered as this desk,” she says as she motions to the desk strewn with books, journals and study materials. “Can we help you find it, I really don’t want to miss the field trip,” your friend begs the nurse. “Absolutely, I need all the help I can get right now! We need to hurry because the buses are pulling out in 45 minutes and if you don’t have an EpiPen, you’ll have to forget the field trip.”
