SYSTEM SWITCH: SAVE EARTH'S SYSTEMS
Standards: NGSS.SCIENCE MS-ESS2-2, MS-ESS2-3
You have been working hard for the past year with a team of geologists traveling the world to study Earth’s systems. The President of the United States asked you to spend a year traveling the world to study Earth’s systems to better understand our planet and how to make it a better place. Tomorrow, you and your team are to give a summary of your findings to the President and the Committee to Better the Planet. Your team is working together in the office, but someone is missing. Where is Dr. Strange I. Deas? Suddenly, a note is slipped under the door... Greetings my fellow geologists, I have really enjoyed working with you over the past year as we have traveled the 7 continents to learn more about Earth’s systems. Little did you know, you were collecting data to better understand the Earth and make it a better place, but I have been using your hard work and research to create a machine to change the direction the Earth spins! At last, my machine is ready for action. Once I reverse the spin, there will be all sorts of changes from the rock and water cycle to earthquakes and volcanoes to weather changes. I will be known as The Great Earth Changing Geologist. At the time you are reading this, I am safe in my laboratory with everything I need to make this happen. In about 45 minutes, the Earth will slow down and completely change directions. Don’t bother trying to stop me; my laboratory door has 5 locks that you will never be able to open. Hahaha! See you a-round the planet sometime! Your clockwise friend, Dr. Strange I. Deas
