Breaking News: Residents of Mighty River are concerned as reports continue to roll in about deteriorating water conditions and dead fish appearing along the river’s banks. We interviewed Lar G. Bass, a lifetime resident of this small town, who said, “This river was a clear, cool river I fished from and swam in all my life, but now I won’t let my grandchildren step foot in the water and I definitely won’t eat a fish that manages to survive when most are dying.” Nervously laughing Mr. Bass continues, “Me and the misses think they are going to have to change the name of our town from Mighty River to Slimy River if this keeps up.” A town meeting is scheduled tomorrow for concerned citizens to review recent grievances and help town council members uncover the cause for the river’s decline.
