Presidential Perplexity
Once while traveling across the country with a group of fellow lawyers (“riding circuit” as it was known in the day), Abraham Lincoln went missing from the party. The last time anyone remembered seeing him, he had been loitering near a thicket of wild plum trees where the men had stopped a short time before to water their horses. 45 minutes later, as Lincoln rejoined them, the lawyers began teasing him about his curiosity. He replied in a perplexed voice, "I found a mysterious light-emitting device that seems to have originated from the future. My curiosity got the better of me and I ended up learning something extremely important about my future that causes me to bleat.” Today . . . at this very moment, you are at the helm of that very device, poised to discover what Lincoln learned on that fateful day. What did Abe find? Can you retrace his steps and figure out what wisdom he discovered?
